Finding Light After Loss
Life changed forever for John Hearn when his daughters’ mother passed away. As a single dad, his only focus was helping his girls heal—taking them to therapy, putting their needs first, and burying his own pain. For years, he coped by drinking on weekends, just to numb the grief.
But when his daughters grew up and moved out, the loneliness hit hard. The past caught up with him, and PTSD took over. Alcohol became his daily escape, and soon, he lost control—his health, his stability, even his home. A toxic relationship made things worse. Rock bottom felt inescapable.

Then, his daughters stepped in. They helped him get into rehab, and for the first time in years, John faced his pain instead of running from it. When he left treatment, he made a bold decision—he turned his van into a camper and set off across England and Wales, chasing new adventures and rebuilding himself one day at a time.
The road wasn’t easy, but with each mile, John grew stronger. His mental health improved, the dark moments became shorter, and slowly, he found happiness again. Most importantly, his daughters got their dad back—sober, present, and finally at peace.
![]() | "I’m me again," John says. "The fight isn’t over, but now I know I can win." John’s story is proof that even after the hardest losses, healing is possible—and sobriety can bring you home. |

Today’s Mantra
Healing isn't linear, but every sober day moves me forward. I choose growth over escape, presence over numbness.
