How a moment of despair became the turning point for lasting sobriety

David Wolfe’s journey to sobriety began like many others—innocently enough, with social drinking at 17. But what started as a way to ease social anxiety quickly spiraled into a 23-year battle with chronic alcoholism. By his late teens, David was pre-partying, blacking out at parties, and eventually drinking alone in secret. His addiction became all-consuming, leading him to drink before, during, and after work, with bottles hidden everywhere—even in places he’d later forget.

Over the years, David’s struggle took him to 19 inpatient rehabs, countless emergency room visits, therapy sessions, and even two arrests—one for a DUI and another for showing up to court intoxicated. Despite these efforts, sobriety felt out of reach.

The turning point came during his final rehab in May 2017. On the night of July 4th, while confined to his room, David witnessed a tragic shooting outside his window. The sound of a mother screaming, “Not my son, not my son,” shook him to his core. In that moment, he fell to his knees and prayed like never before, begging his higher power to either remove his obsession with alcohol or take his life.

The next morning, David woke up with an overwhelming sense of peace. That day, May 3rd, 2017, became his clean and sober date. Through the support of a fellowship of recovering addicts, David found a new way of life—one built on living in the moment, one day at a time.

Today, David’s life is beyond anything he could have imagined. While it’s not always easy, he knows it’s always worth it. His story is a powerful reminder that no matter how deep the struggle, recovery is possible with faith, support, and a commitment to living in the present.

David’s journey inspires us all to keep fighting, one day at a time.

What If Quitting Alcohol Didn’t Feel Like a Battle?

Here’s the truth: willpower is exhausting—and it rarely works long-term. Why? Because alcohol habits live in your subconscious, not your logic. No amount of white-knuckling can rewrite those deep neural pathways. That’s why you keep circling back, no matter how hard you try.

But what if you could reprogram your brain to want sobriety? Alcohol Aversion Hypnotherapy targets the root of cravings, turning "I can't drink" into "I don't want to drink." No shame, no struggle—just your mind and body finally working together. The real question isn’t if you can quit—it’s how easy could it be?

Today’s Mantra

My lowest moment became my turning point. Today, I choose freedom—one breath, one hour, one sober day at a time.
